FAQs
1. What is IPL, and how does it work?
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) uses light energy to target hair follicles beneath the skin's surface. The light is absorbed by the melanin in the hair, converting to heat, which disrupts the follicle's growth cycle. Over time, this leads to a significant reduction in hair growth.
2. Is IPL suitable for all skin tones and hair colors?
IPL works best on lighter skin tones with dark hair due to the contrast that allows the light to target the melanin effectively. Please refer to our skin tone and hair color compatibility chart to see if IPL is suitable for you.
3. Can IPL be used on all parts of the body?
Yes, IPL can be used on most body areas, including legs, arms, underarms, bikini line, and face (below the cheekbones). Always use the appropriate lamp head for the area being treated.
4. Is IPL hair removal safe?
Yes, IPL is FDA-cleared and a widely trusted method for long-term hair removal. However, it is not recommended for use on tattoos, dark pigmentation, or during pregnancy and lactation. Please follow the safety guidelines provided in the manual.
5. How long does it take to see results?
Most users notice a reduction in hair growth within 4 weeks of consistent use. Full results are typically achieved after 12 weeks of regular treatments.
6. How often should I use the device?
For the first 3 weeks, use the device 3 times a week. Between weeks 4-6, reduce usage to 2 times a week. After 6 weeks, you can use it once or twice a month for maintenance.
7. How long does a session take?
Session times vary depending on the area being treated. For example, underarms can take 2 minutes, while legs may take up to 15 minutes.
8. Do I need to shave before using the IPL device?
Yes, for optimal results, the treatment area should be clean and shaved before use. Avoid waxing, plucking, epilation, threading, or similar methods, as they remove the hair follicle, which is necessary for IPL to work effectively.
9. Do I need eye protection when using the device?
Yes, eye protection is required. The IPL-Blocker sunglasses are included in the package to ensure your safety during use.
10. What should I do after treatment?
After using the device, apply a gentle moisturizer or aloe vera gel to soothe the treated areas. Avoid direct sun exposure and wear sunscreen if you plan to be outdoors.
11. Can I use IPL on tattoos or dark spots?
No, IPL should not be used on tattoos, moles, birthmarks, or areas with dark pigmentation. These areas may absorb excess light energy, increasing the risk of burns or irritation.
12. Does IPL hair removal hurt?
Most users describe the sensation as painless. However, you might feel a slight warmth or mild snap against the skin. The device has adjustable intensity levels, so you can choose the setting that feels most comfortable.
